Vancouver Pride Parade Draws Thousands, Surrey Joins In
Vancouver Pride Parade drew hundreds of thousands of spectators and featured over 150 participating groups. Surrey was strongly represented, with floats from the Surrey School District, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and non-profit Sher Vancouver. The event, which began on Pacific Boulevard and ended at the Davie Village Pride Festival, celebrated queer identity and inclusion. Sher Vancouver’s founder, Alex Sangha, emphasized the importance of visibility and solidarity, particularly for oppressed 2SLGBTQ+ communities globally. KPU volunteers also supported the Pride Society’s bursary fund. The parade included a surprise appearance by Prime Minister Mark Carney.
