Boom Lift Joyride Ends in Arrest in Tsawwassen

A man was arrested in Tsawwassen on September 7 after allegedly stealing a boom lift from a Southlands construction site and driving it erratically through residential streets. According to Delta police, the vehicle struck street signs and damaged property before the suspect fled into a cornfield. Officers, assisted by a police dog unit and drone team, apprehended him without injury. The man faces charges of breaking and entering, theft over $5,000, and mischief, and has been released pending a future court date. The boom lift was returned to the site.

Delta, Tsawwassen First Nation Secure $80K for Safety Plans

The City of Delta and Tsawwassen First Nation have received $80,000 in joint funding from B.C.’s Community Emergency Preparedness Fund to improve emergency notification systems and evacuation plans. Each community will get $40,000 to enhance multi-channel alerts, collaborate on readiness exercises, and update local safety protocols. Announced on July 24 by the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness, the funding is part of a $2 million provincial initiative supporting 51 local projects across B.C. to better prepare communities for emergencies.
