Surrey Police Urge Summer Vigilance Against Break-Ins

The Surrey Police Service is warning residents of a seasonal increase in residential break-ins during summer, with 599 incidents reported from June to September over the past three years. A significant number of these break-ins involved unsecured homes or garage entries. Police are urging residents to secure windows, doors, and garages, especially when away on vacation. Tips include storing ladders, pausing mail, and installing security systems. The long-running Block Watch program also plays a key role in preventing crime through community cooperation. SPS stresses that public awareness and proactive safety measures can help reduce break-ins during this high-risk period.
