Surrey teen’s big break: Jams with Arkells on festival stage
A Surrey guitarist lived out his dream during the Barnside Harvest Festival in Delta, B.C., last weekend. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Newson was invited on stage by Arkells frontman Max Kerman during the band’s Sept. 13 headline set at Paterson Park. Before a crowd of 25,500, Newson played guitar alongside the Hamilton rockers, calling it “the best moment of my life.” The three-day festival, hosted by Barnside Brewing, also featured Walk Off the Earth, The Dead South, and more than a dozen other acts.
