South Surrey Rallies for Terry Fox Run Against Cancer
South Surrey residents gathered at Athletic Park on Sept. 14 for the annual Terry Fox Run, raising funds for cancer research despite rainy skies. The event honoured Fox’s 1980 Marathon of Hope, when he ran 5,373 kilometres with an artificial leg to inspire nationwide support. Local organizer Kathy Dinning praised Fox’s enduring impact on science and fundraising, noting strong community turnout and optimistic donation levels both online and in person. The run continues Fox’s mission to unite Canadians in the fight against cancer.
