Four psychiatrists depart Vernon hospital amid concerns
Four psychiatrists have resigned from their acute-care and on-call duties at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Interior Health confirmed Thursday, Oct. 23. While three of the doctors will continue community practice, their departure raises concerns over mental-health service stability in the region. Interior Health says the resignations were for “separate and unrelated personal reasons,” though the BC Conservatives allege excessive workloads and lack of support drove the exits. The authority is working with partners to recruit replacements and ensure continued access to psychiatric care. Six psychiatrists remain under contract to provide acute services at the hospital.
