Surrey School Transforms Music Program with $18K Grant

Lena Shaw Elementary in Surrey has received an $18,000 grant from MusiCounts to expand its music program. The funding allowed the school to purchase Zimbabwean marimbas, sound equipment and beat-making tools to better reflect the cultural backgrounds and musical interests of its diverse student population. The grant is part of MusiCounts’ $1.1 million nationwide investment in music education this year.
