Percussion Instruments Brings Music to B.C. Seniors in Care

Long & McQuade has partnered with Rick’s Heart Foundation to launch a percussion instrument drive for seniors in care homes across B.C., including facilities in White Rock and Surrey. Running until Sept. 30, the campaign encourages community members to donate gently used drums, shakers, tambourines, and other rhythm instruments at Long & McQuade stores in White Rock, Surrey, and Langley. The initiative, part of the Heart for Music program, aims to reduce isolation and promote well-being through music therapy.

KPU Music Camps Invite Kids and Teens to Join This August

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is hosting summer music camps this August at its Surrey campus for youth aged 5 to 17. The World Rhythms Camp (Aug. 11–15) offers hands-on percussion experiences for children, while the Teen Singing Camp (Aug. 5–8 & Aug. 18–22) focuses on vocal training and performance skills.
