A 50-year-old White Rock man was arrested late Friday night after driving with a blood-alcohol level more than four times the legal limit. RCMP responded around 11 p.m. on July 25 to a report of a swerving vehicle on North Bluff Road. Officers quickly located and arrested the driver, calling it an “extremely dangerous situation.” Thanks to the timely tip from a concerned citizen, no injuries occurred. The man has been released pending a November court date, and his licence has been suspended. White Rock RCMP are urging residents to report impaired drivers by calling 911.
The Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) is launching B.C.’s first Black-focused legal clinic and is holding community consultations to guide its development. In partnership with local organizations, including the BC Community Alliance, three public events are scheduled—two in Vancouver (Aug. 5–6) and one in Surrey (Aug. 7 at Royal Event Community Center). The sessions invite Black community members and legal professionals to share their experiences with the legal system and offer input on service improvements. The goal is to address barriers and design a clinic that meets the specific legal needs of Black British Columbians.
