The Nico Wynd Men’s Golf Club in South Surrey held its delayed annual championship over Labour Day weekend. Andrew Paul won the gross title, while Bob Smith claimed the net crown by one stroke in a field of 49 golfers.
Clara Ding, 14, from White Rock, has been named to Team Canada for the World Junior Girls Golf Championship, Sept. 15–20 in St. Catharines, Ont. The rising star has two major wins this season and will compete against golfers from 23 countries.
Fifteen B.C. golf courses made Canada’s Top 100, led by Capilano (#8) and Sagebrush (#10). Vancouver Island courses Victoria, James Island, and Royal Colwood also ranked, showcasing the province’s world-class golfing landscapes.
Vernon native and Abbotsford golf pro Brady Stead is expanding his Teach-a-thon for Mental Health into a provincewide initiative. Inspired by personal losses due to suicide, Stead launched the fundraiser in 2023, donating 100% of golf lesson fees and donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). The 2025 program allows PGA of BC professionals across British Columbia to host their own events between Aug. 22 and Sept. 30, with all proceeds staying in local communities to support mental health programs.
