Surrey doctor acquitted in patient assault trial
A Surrey doctor has been acquitted of sexually assaulting a patient after a judge found inconsistencies in the complainant’s testimony. Dr. Olumuyiwa Akinwumi Bamgbade, an anaesthesiologist, was accused of kissing and touching a 66-year-old patient without consent at his pain clinic in 2022. Judge Mark Jetté ruled that the patient’s account was incompatible with the clinic’s examination room layout and raised doubts about its reliability. Bamgbade was found not guilty.
