BC Ferries Wins Case Against Farm Over Wi-Fi Complaint
A Nanoose Bay farm has lost its compensation claim against BC Ferries after arguing that ferry delays and unreliable onboard wi-fi caused financial losses. Ellesmere Farm Corporation sought up to $27,000 in damages for wasted time and lost produce sales, later reducing the claim to $5,000 to fit small claims limits. The B.C. Civil Resolution Tribunal ruled that BC Ferries makes no guarantee of wi-fi service and is not liable for schedule delays under its terms of carriage. The tribunal also found the farm provided insufficient evidence to support its claim of lost revenue. The case was dismissed with no compensation awarded.
