Clayton Heights Heritage Home Ravaged by Wednesday Blaze
A heritage building in Surrey’s Clayton Heights, once home to the Surrey Little Theatre and originally the Clayton United Church, was severely damaged by fire on Wednesday, August 20. Surrey Fire Service responded around 3 p.m. to the 7000-block of 184 Street, where flames engulfed the front of the building and a nearby car. Witnesses reported explosions before the fire spread. Fire crews contained the blaze from reaching the attic and roof but confirmed extensive structural damage. The site holds cultural significance, sitting near the future Hillcrest–184 Street SkyTrain station, and its loss highlights ongoing change in the rapidly developing neighbourhood.
