Passengers Trapped for Hours After Power Line Hits Bus
Nearly 30 passengers were stranded for almost four hours after a power line fell onto a BC Transit bus in Saanich early Oct. 26. The Route 28 bus was travelling along Feltham Road near Cedar Hill Road when a fallen tree brought down a utility pole and live wires during a storm. Passengers were ordered to remain inside until BC Hydro crews could safely remove the lines. Heavy rainfall and widespread power outages delayed the response, but all passengers were later transferred to another bus without injuries. BC Transit thanked customers, Hydro crews, and emergency responders for ensuring everyone’s safety.
