BC Ferries Delays After Mid-Route Medical Emergency
A BC Ferries sailing from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay was forced to turn back mid-route on Oct. 8 after a passenger suffered a medical emergency. The Spirit of British Columbia returned to Vancouver so the passenger could receive urgent care, causing delays of over an hour for later departures from Swartz Bay, including the 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. sailings. Vancouver-bound routes remained unaffected. BC Ferries apologized for the disruption and urged travellers to check its website or app for real-time sailing updates.
