Surrey and White Rock Mark Overdose Awareness Day
Surrey and White Rock will host community events this August to mark International Overdose Awareness Day and honour lives lost to toxic drugs. White Rock’s event takes place August 27 at Memorial Plaza with music, free meals, and a candlelight vigil. Surrey’s gathering follows on August 29 at Holland Park, offering support services, meals, and remembrance activities. The events come as B.C. continues to face a toxic drug crisis, with 915 deaths reported in the first half of 2025, making Surrey the second-highest city in the province for fatalities.
