Surrey gets major healthcare boost with new clinics
Shoppers Drug Mart has officially opened all seven of its Pharmacy Care Clinics in Surrey, ahead of schedule. This expansion is expected to significantly increase access to primary care services in one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities.
Meeting Surrey’s growing healthcare needs
“These seven new clinic locations, with extended after-hours care, are designed to support the community and relieve pressure on emergency rooms and family physicians,” said David Markwell, president of Shoppers Drug Mart.
Each clinic is thoughtfully designed with child-friendly exam rooms, accessible waiting areas, and a dedicated “care concierge” to guide patients through their visit.
What services are available
Residents can access assessments and treatment for common conditions like urinary tract infections and pink eye free of charge with a valid BC health card. Clinics also provide injections, medication reviews, and other pharmacy health services.
Government and community leaders react
“Timely access to care and trusted health advice are at the heart of pharmacy care clinics,” said Josie Osborne, Minister of Health.
“As Surrey continues to grow, these clinics are helping improve access to care while easing pressure on emergency rooms,” added Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke.
MLA Jagrup Brar (Surrey–Fleetwood) praised the initiative, noting it will enhance community-based healthcare across Surrey.
