A new free Baby Café opens Fridays in White Rock for parents and children under four—offering safe play, snacks, and community connection at Church of the Holy Trinity.
Warm Space for Young Families Opens in White Rock
A Baby Café run entirely by volunteers opened in White Rock on Friday, September 5, 2025, offering local parents, caregivers, and children up to age four a welcoming place to gather. The venue: the hall at the Church of the Holy Trinity, on the corner of Foster Street and Roper Avenue.
Fridays Become a Time for Play and Conversation
From 10:00 a.m. to noon each Friday, the Baby Café operates without formal programming; instead it provides an informal, relaxed atmosphere. Visitors are free to enter or leave at any point during the two-hour slot, allowing flexibility for caregivers and children alike.
Snacks, Beverages, and Safe Play Offered at No Cost
Free snacks are available for babies and tots, while caregivers can also enjoy free light refreshments. The hall has been set up to offer a warm, safe, and relaxing environment where little ones can play under supervision, and adults can visit, share parenting experiences, and find peer support.
A Response to Community Needs
Church leaders say the idea came from visits to similar Baby Cafés in Maple Ridge and Squamish, where caregivers expressed a strong desire for a space that supports both child play and adult connection. According to Rev. Joe Dirbas, they discovered that many in White Rock and South Surrey lacked just such a gathering place.
Seasonal Schedule and Volunteer Support
The Baby Café will be open during the school year but will pause during major breaks—including December holidays, March Break, and summer hiatus. As a community initiative, it is entirely staffed by volunteers from the Church of the Holy Trinity and local neighbourhoods.
Invitation to All
All parents, caregivers, infants, and toddlers in White Rock and surrounding areas are welcome to drop in. There is no need for registration; attendance is on a walk-in basis. Organizers hope the café will grow in attendance and become a lasting resource for families.
