Surrey Welcomes Fall with Concerts, Fairs, and Paw Play
A Season of Gathering in Surrey
As fall arrives, Surrey is buzzing with community events that bring together art, culture, music, food, and outdoor fun. From concerts and comedy nights to pet-friendly gatherings and seasonal festivals, residents can expect a lively calendar of activities throughout September and October.
Music to Lift Community Spirits
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra returns with its Surrey Sunday Series at Bell Performing Arts Centre on Sept. 21, featuring pianist Anne-Marie McDermott in a program of Beethoven piano concertos. Later in the month, the Coast to Coast concert fundraiser on Sept. 27 will rock the Surrey Arts Centre in support of the Surrey Food Bank, blending entertainment with a cause.
Theatre and Culture on Stage
Local theatre takes centre stage with Royal Canadian Theatre Company’s comedy They Came From Mars… at Surrey Arts Centre from Sept. 26–28. On Oct. 5, Cirque Kalabanté’s Afrique en Cirque promises a vibrant family show of acrobatics and djembe rhythms. For history and storytelling, Arts Club Theatre’s You Used to Call Me Marie… runs Oct. 15–25, portraying the Métis nation’s resilience.
Flavours of Fall
Food lovers can visit the Surrey Urban Farmers’ Market every Saturday at Royal Kwantlen Park or indulge in homestyle Ukrainian dishes at the monthly Ukrainian Soul Food fundraiser. Both events highlight Surrey’s rich multicultural community and support local initiatives.
Paw Play for Pets and Owners
Dog owners will enjoy Paw Play in the Park, free pop-up gatherings at Clayton Dog Off-Leash Park on Sept. 20 and Latimer Off-Leash Park on Sept. 27. Hosted by Surrey Animal Resource Centre, the events feature giveaways, training games, and interactive activities designed to strengthen bonds between people and their pets.
Festivals and Seasonal Highlights
Fall festivities include the Harvest Fair on Sept. 20 at Historic Stewart Farm, celebrating community traditions with live music and vendors, and the iSAFF South Asian Film Festival from Sept. 24–28 at Landmark Cinemas Guildford, showcasing innovative South Asian filmmaking. Looking ahead, Halloween-themed events like Spooktacular Newton and Cougar Creek’s House of Horrors will offer thrills for all ages.
Building Community Through Fundraisers
Surrey’s charitable spirit shines through with events such as the Anchors Away Gala on Oct. 4, supporting Peace Arch Hospice Society, and High Fashion & High Tea on Oct. 5, raising funds for local housing initiatives. These gatherings demonstrate how entertainment and philanthropy can work hand in hand.
