Community gathering explores land and reconciliation
An event honouring Indigenous perspectives on land will take place at the Museum of Surrey on October 3, ahead of Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Focus on Coast Salish teachings
The initiative, titled Stories from the Land, will feature a “land-based conversation” centred on the meaning of land for Coast Salish Peoples. The discussion is designed to deepen understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and traditions.
Hosted by Surrey Local Immigration Partnership
The event is organized by the Surrey Local Immigration Partnership. Manager Nicolas Tellez-Espana emphasized that the gathering aims to build connections between Indigenous, settler, and newcomer communities through storytelling.
Open to the public with registration
Attendance is free, but advance registration is required through Eventbrite by searching “Stories from the Land.” Spaces are limited to ensure meaningful dialogue among participants.
