A man sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in a gunfire at Bear Creek Park in Surrey Saturday night; police seek witnesses.

Altercation Leads to Gunfire

At about 9:08 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, Surrey Police Service responded to reports of gunfire following a confrontation between two groups at Bear Creek Park, a well-known recreational site in Surrey, British Columbia. Officers were alerted after someone called to report that a man had been shot during the altercation.

Victim’s Condition and Emergency Response

When police arrived, they secured the crime scene. The injured individual was not driven to hospital by ambulance—but was taken by friends. According to the police statement, the victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Medical treatment was sought immediately following the incident.

Suspect’s Appearance and Vehicle Escape

Witnesses described the suspect as a South Asian man wearing a black turban and dark-coloured clothing, with a short beard. After the shooting, he fled the scene in a grey-coloured sedan. Police have yet to confirm the make and model of the escape vehicle.

Investigation Launched by Specialist Team

Surrey Police Service’s Frontline Investigative Support (FLIS) Team has assumed control of the investigation. They are gathering evidence from Bear Creek Park and surrounding areas, reviewing any available surveillance and forensic material connected to file 2025-79990 (SP).

Public Assistance Requested
