Surrey Libraries has launched three new bookable pods at its Guildford branch, designed to provide quiet and flexible workspaces for the community. The pods, available free of charge, are part of a pilot project that could expand to other library locations across the city.
Community Needs at the Core
The initiative responds to growing requests from library users for more quiet study and collaboration spaces. Surrey Libraries describes the pods as sound-dampened areas ideal for studying, video calls, content creation, or group work. They can also serve as low-sensory spaces for people seeking refuge from noise and bright lights.
Flexible and Accessible Design
Two pods are designed for individuals and include height-adjustable desks, while a third pod accommodates groups of up to four. Each pod can be reserved for a maximum of two hours per day. Bookings can be made at the service desk or by calling the library directly.
Funding Through Donations
