Festivals Take Center Stage

Surrey is buzzing with cultural celebrations this month. The 23rd Fleetwood Festival kicks off on Sept. 6 at Francis Park, bringing free family fun with live music, food trucks, vendors, and games.

If you love world culture, the Filipino Fest and the Surrey Chinese Cultural Festival are happening the same weekend, both free to attend. Expect dazzling dance, vibrant music, tasty cuisine, and hands-on workshops. Later in the month, the Folk Lore Festival and the Harvest Fair add even more reasons to get outside and celebrate community.

Concerts You Can’t Miss

Surrey’s music scene is hitting all the right notes. From the soulful Himig Ng Kasaysayan concert on Sept. 7 to the epic Ikons of Rock tribute on Sept. 11, music lovers have plenty of reasons to book tickets.

Classical fans won’t want to miss the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performing Beethoven on Sept. 21, while rock enthusiasts can rally behind the Coast to Coast Food Bank fundraiser on Sept. 27.

Comedy Nights & Theatre Lights

Need a laugh? Head to Yuk Yuk’s or catch Varun Grover’s standup special, Love, Death & Ketchup, on Sept. 13.

On stage, the quirky musical Urinetown runs Sept. 10–12, and the comedy play They Came From Mars hits the Surrey Arts Centre Sept. 26–28. For families, the dazzling Afrique en Cirque show in October promises acrobatics, music, and pure energy.

Food & Farmers’ Markets

Foodies, rejoice! The Surrey Urban Farmers’ Market is back every Saturday with local produce, handmade goods, and live music. Craving comfort food? Don’t miss Ukrainian Soul Food Fridays, where you can stock up on perogies, cabbage rolls, and borscht.

Family Fun & Outdoor Adventures

From the Surrey Urban Forest tree planting events to Paw Play in the Park for dog lovers, there’s no shortage of outdoor fun. Families can also hop aboard the Bear Creek Mini Train or take in history with Heritage Rail rides.

Sports, Walks & Wellness

September is perfect for movement. Join the RunSurreyRun or the Parkinson SuperWalk, both happening Sept. 7. Kids can try out new sports at the Come Try Ringette event Sept. 13. For calmer moments, guided nature walks at Green Timbers Forest offer fresh air and learning.

Arts, Culture & Community

Creative spirits will love the Culture Days Open House on Sept. 26 and the White Rock & South Surrey Culture Crawl in October. Meanwhile, the Museum of Surrey is hosting its final days of the Ocean Bound exhibit.

For seniors, social programs like Coffee with the BC Seniors Advocate and the Focus on Seniors Webinar Series create welcoming spaces to connect and learn.
