A man was seriously injured in a stabbing late Saturday in Surrey’s Newton area near 142 Street and 66 Avenue. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Overnight Stabbing Leaves One Injured

A man is recovering in hospital after a stabbing late Saturday in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood. Surrey Police Service (SPS) confirmed the incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. on August 30 near 142 Street and 66 Avenue.

Emergency Response Mobilized

First responders, including Surrey Fire and BC Emergency Health Services, arrived at the scene and treated the victim for serious injuries before transporting him to hospital by ambulance. A significant police presence was reported, with an estimated 20 cruisers, a police dog, and a drone deployed during the response.

Suspect Located and Arrested

According to police, the Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT) was called in after reports indicated a suspect might still be inside a residence. The suspect was later found a short distance away, taken into custody, and transported to hospital. Authorities have not released further details regarding the suspect’s condition or potential charges.

Community Concerns Raised

The heavy police response and use of specialized units drew attention from residents in the Newton area. Police have not disclosed a motive but confirmed the investigation is ongoing. They noted there is no further risk to public safety at this time.

Ongoing Investigation

SPS continues to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Officials are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Surrey Police Service or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
