The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while a female passenger was arrested and later released after hospital care. The crash forced a 12-hour highway closure, drawing heavy response from BC RCMP and BC Ambulance Service.

After nine months of investigation, chief civilian director Jessica Berglund concluded there are reasonable grounds to believe the officer’s driving may have contributed to the fatal crash.
