Ferris Bueller Stars Surprise Fans at Canadians Game

Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck, best known as Ferris and Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, surprised fans at a Vancouver Canadians game on Aug. 23. The duo led the crowd in singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame during the seventh-inning stretch at Nat Bailey Stadium.

The actors are currently filming The Best Is Yet to Come in B.C., their first movie together in nearly 40 years. The appearance gave fans a nostalgic throwback to their iconic 1986 film, where the pair famously skipped school to catch a baseball game in Chicago.

Ferris Bueller Legends Delight Baseball Fans in Vancouver

Life really does move pretty fast—and fans at a Vancouver Canadians game just got a nostalgic reminder. On Saturday night at Nat Bailey Stadium, moviegoers of the 1980s were treated to a special appearance by none other than Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck, the beloved duo from the cult classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

A Throwback to the ’80s

The crowd roared as Broderick and Ruck stepped up to lead the seventh-inning stretch with a lively version of Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Nearly four decades ago, their characters—Ferris Bueller and Cameron Frye—played hooky from school and found themselves in the stands at a Chicago Cubs game. This time, the magic wasn’t on the silver screen but live in Vancouver, and fans couldn’t get enough.

From Cutting Class to Cutting Film Reels

While it may have looked like the actors were skipping work for some ballpark fun, the truth is they’re in town for their latest project, The Best Is Yet to Come. The new film is a remake of a 2019 French drama about two friends whose lives are turned upside down by a misunderstanding. For Broderick and Ruck, it marks their first on-screen collaboration since the 1986 hit that made them household names.

A Reunion Worth the Wait

For longtime fans, seeing the pair side by side again felt like stepping back into a favorite memory. Their chemistry hasn’t faded, and the moment bridged generations of movie lovers and baseball fans alike.

After all, if Ferris taught us anything, it’s that life moves fast—so when a chance like this comes along, you take it.
