Surrey Launches Foundry Centre for Youth Health Care

Foundry Surrey opens this fall, offering youth free mental health and wellness care with community support across five core services.

Foundry Surrey opens this fall, offering youth free mental health and wellness care with community support across five core services.

Surrey Youth to Gain a New Wellness Hub

The wait for Surrey youth and families to access comprehensive health services in one place is finally coming to an end. This fall, Foundry Surrey will open its doors, marking a significant milestone for the city with B.C.’s largest youth population. The centre is designed to provide free, confidential, and easy-to-access support, ensuring care is available when it’s needed most.

What Foundry Surrey Will Provide

The project is a collaboration between Pacific Community Resources Society and Foundry BC, forming part of a province-wide network. At its heart, Foundry Surrey will create a welcoming and inclusive environment for young people aged 12 to 24. Families will also be able to access care across five essential service areas:

  • Mental health care
  • Substance use support
  • Physical and sexual health care
  • Social services, including housing, employment, and newcomer support
  • Peer support for youth and families

With both in-person and virtual services available, referrals are not required. This model ensures that barriers to help are lowered, especially for Surrey’s diverse communities.

A Community Vision Years in the Making

Community involvement has shaped every detail of the new centre. From location to design, more than 50 partners — including youth, families, and service providers — contributed to the project. Their input ensured the space reflects the community’s values while meeting real needs.

“This is a community initiative, made by the community and it will continue to be after we open our doors,” says Debora Anthonypillai of Foundry Surrey.

Funding and Future Plans

Spanning 18,000 square feet, Foundry Surrey will be the largest of its kind in the province. The project has already raised 86 percent of its capital funding through grants, donors, and dedicated partners. These funds are creating essential spaces such as counselling rooms, exam areas, cultural gathering spaces, and group rooms.

Support from the Province of British Columbia and Foundry BC has been vital. However, community contributions are now crucial to completing the vision. Every donation, large or small, helps build a space where local youth can access the care they deserve.

“The incredible community of Surrey really has rallied around us and the vital care our youth and families need,” Anthonypillai adds.

A Call to Action

Foundry Surrey is more than a health centre — it’s a promise of a brighter future for young people and their families. Community members can play a part by donating through CanadaHelps.org and ensuring that Surrey’s youth have access to safe, supportive, and life-changing services close to home.
