Body Recovered in Harrison Lagoon Drowning Incident

Tragedy at Harrison Lake Lagoon

A somber weekend unfolded at Harrison Lake, where RCMP confirmed the recovery of a drowning victim’s body on Saturday afternoon. The incident, which began late Friday evening, has left the local community shaken. Authorities have extended heartfelt condolences to the family, emphasizing respect for their privacy during this difficult time.

Emergency Response and Recovery

The drowning was first reported around 11:20 PM on Friday, prompting an immediate multi-agency response. Members of the Agassiz RCMP, Harrison Hot Springs Fire Department, and Kent Harrison Search and Rescue joined forces in the overnight search. Despite challenging conditions, crews worked tirelessly, continuing the operation into Saturday until the body was located and recovered.

Ongoing Investigation

While officials have confirmed the tragic outcome, they have withheld personal details about the victim to protect the family’s wishes. At this stage, foul play is not suspected, and the case remains an active investigation. Authorities have stressed that updates will only be provided if necessary.

Public Safety Measures

The public has been asked to avoid the Harrison Lake Lagoon area as emergency crews complete their work. Vehicle and pedestrian access is being restricted to ensure smooth operations and preserve the dignity of the recovery process. Officials have assured residents that once the area is cleared, it will reopen to the public.
