Afro-Caribbean Celebration Returns to Surrey Civic Plaza

Surrey is set to host one of its most vibrant cultural events of the year—the Afro-Caribbean Cultural Summerfest of Surrey (A.C.C.E.S.S.) 2025—on Saturday, August 23, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Surrey Civic Plaza, 13450 104 Avenue. The event is free to attend and promises a full day of music, food, art, and celebration of community.

Cultural Festival Grows Since 2022 Launch

Hosted by the New Vision Music Society, this flagship summer event has grown significantly since its debut in 2022. Originally drawing modest local crowds, the Summerfest now attracts thousands of attendees from Surrey and beyond, all eager to experience the dynamic blend of African and Caribbean traditions showcased throughout the day.

Live Music and Dance Take Centre Stage

This year’s lineup includes a variety of live performances, dance showcases, and interactive cultural experiences, headlined by internationally acclaimed reggae artist Luciano, who brings global recognition to the Surrey stage. Local performers, drummers, and dancers will also be featured throughout the day, highlighting the diversity of diasporic talent in the region.

A Family-Friendly, Inclusive Experience

The festival offers a family-friendly atmosphere with free admission, making it accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Visitors can enjoy everything from traditional Afro-Caribbean cuisine and artisan markets to children’s activities and educational booths celebrating the cultural richness of African and Caribbean communities in Canada.

Civic Plaza Chosen for Accessibility and Visibility

Located in the heart of the city, Surrey Civic Plaza serves as the ideal venue, offering high visibility, accessibility by public transit, and proximity to community resources. The central location helps foster a welcoming environment for both longtime residents and newcomers eager to engage with the city’s multicultural identity.

Supporting Cultural Unity Through Community

New Vision Music Society, the nonprofit organizer behind the event, continues its mission to promote cultural awareness, inclusion, and celebration through music and arts. The 2025 Summerfest is part of a broader initiative to support and uplift Afro-Caribbean voices within the Canadian cultural landscape.
