Surrey Artist Market Brings Art, Dance, and Community Spirit

Surrey Artist Market at Newton Cultural Centre offers live shows, art demos, and more this Saturday, rain or shine.

Surrey Artist Market Brings Art, Dance, and Community Spirit

The Surrey Artist Market will transform the Newton Cultural Centre lawn into a lively celebration of creativity this Saturday, August 9. The event, hosted by the Arts Council of Surrey, runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and promises to go ahead rain or shine. As the third outdoor Surrey Artist Market of the summer, it blends performances, demonstrations, and unique art displays into one vibrant afternoon.

Live Performances and Cultural Flair

Visitors can expect an eclectic mix of entertainment. The Paul Tavai-Latta Polynesian Dancers of Surrey will bring their rhythmic island energy, while a skilled woodcarving artist will showcase their craft. These performances and demonstrations add depth to an already rich market experience, ensuring there is always something to catch the eye.

Building on a Summer of Success

The first two markets on July 5 and 12 drew enthusiastic crowds. According to spokesperson Cory Woodcock, the atmosphere was electric, with diverse performances and strong community participation. “We had dancers from Hanyang Arts at 11 a.m., followed by a high-energy Street Kings dance battle at noon,” Woodcock recalled. “Our Youth Arts Council of Surrey was also there, raising funds for their programs.”

Final Summer Market Still to Come

Those who miss this weekend’s festivities will have one more chance to attend before summer’s end. The final outdoor market takes place August 16 at the same time and location. With its mix of artistry, culture, and community connection, the Surrey Artist Market remains a highlight of the city’s summer calendar.
