Crash Shuts Down 176th Street in Cloverdale for Hours

The vehicle veered off the road and landed in a water-filled ditch around 9 p.m. Surrey Fire’s Technical Rescue Team extricated the driver, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews cleared the scene later that night. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Evening Collision Causes Major Disruption in Cloverdale

A serious single-vehicle crash in Cloverdale disrupted traffic for hours on Wednesday night, July 31, after a car veered off 176th Street and plunged into a water-filled ditch just north of Fraser Highway.

Crash Occurred Shortly After Dusk

The incident took place shortly after 9 p.m., prompting an immediate emergency response. The northbound lane of 176th Street was closed for several hours as crews worked to manage the scene and extract the vehicle from the ditch.

Driver Extricated by Surrey Fire Rescue

According to an eyewitness and Black Press Media freelancer at the scene, emergency responders, including Surrey Fire’s Technical Rescue Team, had to extricate the driver from the submerged vehicle. The driver received on-site medical attention before being transported to hospital by ambulance.

Injuries Described as Serious but Non-Life-Threatening

Authorities confirmed that the driver sustained serious injuries, though they were not considered life-threatening. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were reported.

Cause of the Crash Under Investigation

At this time, the cause of the accident remains under investigation. Officials have not released information about whether speed, road conditions, or impairment were factors.

Traffic Resumed After Several Hours

Northbound traffic on 176th Street was halted for several hours while emergency crews cleared the scene. The road was fully reopened later that night, once it was deemed safe for travel.
