Billionaire’s Super Yachts Spark Buzz Off B.C. Coast

Sunbathers along the Greater Victoria shoreline got a surprise visual treat this Monday. Two sleek, high-profile vessels—belonging to Las Vegas billionaire Lorenzo Fertitta—were spotted floating gracefully off Oak Bay in the southern Georgia Strait. These super yachts weren’t just ordinary luxury boats—they were a floating spectacle.

Fertitta, 56, is known globally for selling his stake in the Ultimate Fighting Championship for billions in 2016 and 2017. The two vessels seen anchored—Lonian and Hodor—offer a glimpse into his high-octane lifestyle.

The larger vessel, Lonian, stretches 87 metres and is nothing short of an ocean palace. Designed to host dozens, it features full-scale crew accommodations, lavish suites, and even its own helicopter. Right behind it was Hodor, a 66-metre catamaran-style support ship designed to carry jet skis, ATVs, motorcycles, dinghies, and another helicopter. No wonder Boat International dubbed it “the world’s largest floating toy box.”

According to vessel tracking data from MarineTraffic.com, both yachts sailed from Bedwell Harbour on Pender Island and dropped anchor in Oak Bay on Thursday, July 24. Their arrival instantly caught attention, turning heads from both water and shore.

These super yachts not only show off extreme luxury but also highlight how the quiet B.C. coast is becoming a hotspot for the ultra-wealthy and their mobile mansions.
