Kap’s Café Reopens in Surrey After July 10 Shooting

Surrey Café Resumes Service After Gunfire Incident

Kap’s Café, owned by Indian actor-comedian Kapil Sharma, has reopened its doors in Surrey after being targeted in a shooting incident on July 10. The café, located at 8496 120 Street, is now open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., closed on Tuesdays, according to an announcement from staff on social media.

Bullets Fired Overnight at Newton Café

The incident occurred around 1:50 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, when Surrey Police and the Delta Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the 8400 block of 120 Street, near the border of Surrey and North Delta. At least eight bullets struck the café’s windows, leaving multiple holes. Staff were inside at the time, but no one was injured, police confirmed.

Team Thanks Public as Doors Open Again

In an Instagram post, the café’s staff thanked the community for its support, writing:

“With heartfelt thanks, we’re opening our doors again — ready to welcome you back with warmth, comfort and care.”
The message acknowledged the public’s role in helping the business bounce back and resume operations safely.

Investigation Active, No Arrests Yet

According to Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton of the Surrey Police Service, the shooting is still under active investigation. Authorities are working to determine the motive and have not ruled out extortion-related activity.
