Colorado Snatches Gold in Canada Cup Thriller Against Team Canada

The final showdown of the Canada Cup 2025 brought the heat to South Surrey as Triple Crown Colorado edged past Team Canada 7-5 in an electrifying finale. Both teams, former champions of the tournament, took the packed stadium at Softball City on a rollercoaster ride of big hits, comebacks, and unforgettable plays.

After a weather delay, Colorado came out swinging with three home runs in the first three innings, surging to a 5-0 lead. But Team Canada, defending champions with a strong 6-1 run heading into the final, mounted an aggressive comeback that pushed the score to 7-5. Despite the valiant effort, Canada settled for silver in a fiercely contested match that lived up to its billing.

A Championship That Goes Beyond the Diamond

This year’s Canada Cup wasn’t just about the final score. The 10-day tournament, running from July 4–13, welcomed teams from around the world, filling stands and showcasing elite female talent from club and national teams alike. Matches took place at multiple fields across Surrey, with Softball City hosting the marquee moments.

Greg Timm, chair of the Canada Cup organizing committee, praised the overwhelming community support. “It’s been a very successful year. The crowd has been incredible, and volunteer dedication exceeded expectations,” Timm shared before the final pitch. “This isn’t just softball anymore — it’s a full-blown community celebration.”

Powered by Volunteers and Passion

The event owes its success in part to a remarkable team of 650 volunteers, who clocked over 25,000 hours to ensure everything ran smoothly. That grassroots dedication played a vital role in maintaining the Canada Cup’s reputation as a premier international softball event, now in its 30th year.

Beyond the marquee matchups, the Canada Cup featured four other competitive divisions: Futures Select (U19), Futures Gold (U19), Showcase Select (17U), and Showcase Gold (17U). Each division gave rising talent a chance to shine under the global spotlight.

Celebrating Community Through Competition

For fans, players, and organizers, the Canada Cup continues to be about more than just scores. It reflects the heart of a growing sporting culture that celebrates women in sport and connects communities through shared passion.
