BC Hockey Brings Provincial Talent to Chilliwack This Summer
From July 24 to 27, the BC Hockey Program of Excellence will take over the Chilliwack Coliseum as 152 top-tier young athletes aim to earn a spot on British Columbia’s provincial teams. Split between the Female U18 and Male U16 categories, the elite camps will determine who represents B.C. at the 2025 U18 Women’s National Championship and the 2025 WHL Cup.
This high-stakes selection event unites players from across B.C. and the Yukon. The U18 female division includes 76 athletes born between 2008 and 2011, while the U16 male category features 76 of the most promising 2010-born players. Fraser Valley’s own Madelyn Dominato (Abbotsford) and Saysha Brace (Chilliwack) will represent locally in the girls’ camp, while the boys’ camp includes Chris Kokkoris, Micheal Kuzik, and Nicholas Voinea from Langley, plus Kane Clarke and Bentley Edgar from Mission.
A Launchpad for Future Stars
Hosted by BC Hockey, the Program of Excellence is a development platform for elite youth players and has become a recognized breeding ground for professional-level talent. Alumni include PWHL’s Hannah Miller and Micah Zandee-Hart on the women’s side, and NHL stars like Matthew Barzal, Sam Reinhart, and Shea Theodore on the men’s roster.
The program, over two decades old, now offers a full development system—from U12 to national-level tournaments. Selected athletes will represent B.C. at the 2025 U18 Nationals in Newfoundland and the upcoming WHL Cup, details of which are yet to be announced.
More Than Just a Camp
The provincial camps go beyond skill assessments—they also include fitness testing, team-building, and position-specific drills. This all-encompassing approach ensures players are evaluated on both athletic ability and leadership potential.
