Canada Day Collision Leaves One in Critical Condition in Surrey

Emergency services rushed to the intersection of 120 Street and 97 Avenue in Surrey on Canada Day (July 1) after a serious two-vehicle crash. The collision, which occurred around 4:10 p.m., resulted in three people being transported to the hospital. While two individuals with minor injuries have since been discharged, one person remains hospitalized in a life-threatening condition as of Friday morning (July 4).

Where the Investigation Stands

Following the crash, Surrey Police Service (SPS), along with fire and ambulance teams, closed the area to traffic as investigators worked into the night gathering evidence. The scene, located near a busy residential and commercial zone, remained blocked for several hours as police documented the wreckage and the surrounding area.

Why Police Are Appealing to the Public

Authorities are now seeking assistance from the public to piece together what happened. They are asking drivers who were in the area at the time to review their dash cam footage. Additionally, residents and businesses with CCTV cameras facing 120 Street or 97 Avenue are urged to check for any recordings that might show the moments leading up to the collision.

How Witnesses Can Provide Information

Anyone with relevant footage or information is encouraged to contact Surrey Police at 604-599-0502, quoting file number 25-54337. For those wishing to remain anonymous, tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting solvecrime.ca.

Community Impact

The crash has raised concerns about safety at the busy intersection, particularly during holiday periods when traffic volumes are high. Surrey Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision and urge drivers to exercise caution on the roads.
