Lawyer Kendelle Pollitt of Pier Law & Mediation wins Surrey’s top business award, celebrated for her rapid growth, philanthropy, and leadership.

A Night of Inspiration and Celebration

Under the shimmering lights of Simon Fraser University’s Surrey campus, nearly 400 guests gathered on November 6 to honor the region’s most dynamic entrepreneurs. The 2025 Surrey & White Rock Business Excellence Awards brought together innovation, resilience, and community spirit for one unforgettable evening.

And when the final applause rang out, it was lawyer Kendelle Pollitt who took center stage—earning the title Business Person of the Year.

From Solo Practice to Province-Wide Success

Pollitt’s journey is the kind that inspires future business leaders. In 2019, she launched Pier Law & Mediation as a solo family law practice. Fast forward to today, and her firm now spans four locations across British Columbia—White Rock, Delta, Powell River, and Vancouver.

Her remarkable growth earned national recognition, with her firm listed among Canada’s Top Growing Companies by a leading newspaper.

But what truly sets Pollitt apart isn’t just business success—it’s her heart for service.

Leading With Purpose and Compassion

Beyond her thriving firm, Pollitt founded the Let’s Talk Resilience Initiative, a wellness platform for lawyers aimed at supporting mental health and balance within the profession.

Her commitment to community runs deep—she donates generously to local charities and funds scholarships for Surrey high school students and law students at Thompson Rivers University. Pollitt’s leadership, compassion, and commitment to well-being reflect the essence of the Business Excellence Awards.

Celebrating Surrey & White Rock’s Brightest

The gala, hosted by the newly merged Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade, honored businesses across eight categories.

Among the night’s standout winners were:

  • PCB Global Trade Management – Business Excellence (41+ employees)
  • Square One Construction – Business Excellence (11–40 employees)
  • Ignite Dance Company – Business Excellence (1–10 employees)
  • A Little Bud – White Rock Business Excellence, recognized for its self-funded recycling program and over $200,000 in charitable donations
  • Mackie’s Place Youth Social House – Not-for-Profit of the Year for its barista training and Mackie’s Pie Club fundraiser
  • Jujhar Mann of Mann and Co Bakeshop – Young Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Mighty Cubs Childcare – New Business Award for providing 24/7 childcare services
  • CanCorr – Corporate Social Responsibility Award for improving employee well-being and enhancing local community life

A Community United by Vision

CBC broadcaster Baneet Braich kept the energy high as emcee, while presenting sponsors DP World Canada, TD Bank, and Vancouver Fraser Port Authority helped bring the evening to life.

“The entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders we celebrate tonight are the heartbeat of our region,” said Joslyn Young, CEO of the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade. “Each winner represents the creativity, resilience, and community spirit that make Surrey and White Rock thrive.”

As the applause faded, one message resonated: when passion meets purpose, success follows—a truth embodied perfectly by Kendelle Pollitt and every honoree at this year’s awards.
