Surrey Welcomes 85 New Affordable Rental Homes

Surrey’s Guildford neighbourhood has gained 85 new non-market rental homes through Metro Vancouver Housing’s Kingston Gardens expansion, providing much-needed options for low-to-moderate income families.

Located at 15245 99 Avenue, the new suites range from one to four bedrooms and include family-friendly features such as a play court, community gardens, kitchen space, and shared laundry facilities on every floor. Each home also has cooling units for comfort during warmer months.

A $44.7 Million Partnership Project

The $44.7 million project was made possible through provincial, federal, and regional collaboration:

  • BC Housing contributed $8.3 million in equity funding.
  • Metro Vancouver Housing provided $14.7 million in land and equity.
  • The Government of Canada, through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), offered a $29.4 million loan via the Affordable Housing Fund.

Supporting Families and Community Growth

“These 85 new homes will ensure that more families in Surrey don’t have to look elsewhere to find a home they can afford,” said Jagrup Brar, MLA for Surrey-Fleetwood. “Projects like Kingston Gardens are essential to meeting the diverse needs of families, seniors, and individuals.”

Originally built in 1981, Kingston Gardens’ new building replaces 24 aging town homes with a four-storey, 85-unit apartment complex, helping modernize and expand Surrey’s affordable housing supply.

Applications for tenancy are now open through Metro Vancouver Housing.
