Surrey’s Best Weekend Events: Concerts, Lights & Holiday Fun

Surrey is glowing with music, lights, food, theatre, and family magic. Because there are so many choices this month, here is a simple guide to the biggest and brightest events happening across the city.

Big Concerts Coming to Surrey

Music lovers can enjoy a huge lineup of shows this November.

First, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra brings Fauré’s Requiem to the Bell Performing Arts Centre on Sunday, Nov. 9. Maestro Otto Tausk leads 125 musicians, and star soprano Sarah Dufresne performs with the ensemble. The evening also includes Brahms’ Song of Destiny and Berg’s Violin Concerto. Tickets start at $35 on vancouversymphony.ca.

Although classical music looks peaceful, Surrey also offers bold and modern shows. For instance, The Sufi Edit takes the stage on Friday, Nov. 7 at Surrey Arts Centre. It mixes Sufi soul, Bollywood rhythm, and cinematic flair. This show promises a fresh and moving experience.

For fans of Canadian voices, the Jeremy Dutcher Trio performs on Nov. 14. Dutcher blends classical vocals, traditional Wolastoqey language, and lush arrangements into a breathtaking concert.

But that is not all. Tribute bands are also filling local stages. You can hear the Eagles’ biggest hits at Take It To The Limit on Nov. 21, or enjoy Creedence Clearwater Relived on Nov. 15. Plus, Gift Shop, a Tragically Hip tribute, rocks Whalley Legion on Nov. 14.

Theatre and Stage Shows

Surrey stages are busy with charming stories.

“In the Cards” runs from Nov. 7–9 at Newton Cultural Centre. It is a funny tale about a reluctant psychic whose romance gets complicated by her abilities.

Next, the classic tale Hansel & Gretel arrives at Surrey Arts Centre from Nov. 19–30. This panto mixes jokes, candy, music, and magic. Because it is family-friendly, everyone can laugh together.

Dance That Lights Up the Stage

Dance fans have many shows to enjoy too.

Ka Se Kathak brings graceful Indian classical dance to Surrey Arts Centre on Nov. 9. Meanwhile, the Ancestral Echoes Dance Symposium lights up Surrey Art Gallery on Nov. 22. Visitors can watch a special performance, join a discussion, and explore cultural dance history.

Later, the Royal City Youth Ballet performs The Nutcracker on Dec. 6–7, bringing holiday sparkle and a cast of more than 100 dancers.

Food, Comedy, Movies and Nightlife

If you love food, you can taste Ukrainian pierogies, cabbage rolls, and hot borscht at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre on the final Friday of every month.

Comedy fans can laugh with The Comic Strippers on Nov. 14 at Bell Performing Arts Centre or catch weekend acts at Yuk Yuk’s at Elements Casino.

Moviegoers can head to Landmark Cinemas in Guildford or Strawberry Hill Cineplex for the newest film releases. And of course, local pubs and live-music bars stay busy every weekend.

Free Light Festivals and Holiday Fun

Surrey sparkles this month. Bear Creek Lights runs from Nov. 7–21 with glowing trails, colourful trees, and a safe space for families to explore the garden loop at night. Admission is free, but time slots must be booked online.

Next, the Surrey Tree Lighting Festival & Holiday Market returns Nov. 22–23 with shows, treats, outdoor skating, amusement rides, a 60-foot tree, and Santa photos.

Because the holidays grow closer, the Gingerbread Village Showdown invites bakers and families to build magical creations based on beloved movies. Entries are due Nov. 16.

Even more holiday cheer arrives with Noel Surrey from Nov. 28 to Dec. 28 at Cloverdale Fairgrounds. Paths glow with millions of lights, shops fill the market, and rides and photo ops brighten the night.

Finally, the Surrey Santa Parade of Lights rolls through Cloverdale on Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. Visitors can bring a food or gift donation for local charities.

Markets, Fundraisers and Community Fun

Shoppers can enjoy the Heart to Home Holiday Market on Nov. 15–16 at Surrey Arts Centre. More than 30 artists display handmade items, from pottery to jewelry.

In addition, the Autism Support Network hosts its South Asian Gala on Nov. 8 to raise support and awareness for those living with autism.

People who love crafts can repair broken items at the monthly Repair Café at Guildford Library, while families can explore the free, hands-on exhibits at the Museum of Surrey.

Sports, Nature and Outdoor Play

Sports fans can cheer for the Surrey Eagles or the Surrey Knights at their home arenas throughout fall and winter.

Meanwhile, nature lovers can join a Fantastical Forest Photo Walk on Nov. 9 at Tynehead Regional Park or help plant trees at community tree-planting events across the city. Nature work parties welcome volunteers who want to clean parks, remove invasive plants, and protect wildlife.

Workshops, Education and Youth Programs

Surrey offers free or low-cost learning programs too. Adults can join reading and math tutoring with the Partners Program, while kids aged 8–12 can play, learn, and make friends in MYzone and MYgame after-school programs.

Teens who love the arts can join the Youth Arts Council of Surrey for film festivals, plays, fashion shows, or talent nights.

Arts, Galleries and Museums

The Surrey Art Gallery hosts major exhibits like Kinesthesia: Body as Form and Atheana Picha: Echoes. Throughout the month, visitors can join artist talks, family art parties, or see digital art outdoors at Surrey UrbanScreen.

Local artists also display work at the Newton Cultural Centre, and the Holiday Card art competition runs Dec. 2–13.

Clubs, Groups and Volunteering

Surrey’s community groups welcome new members every week. From singing in a choir to joining a folk-dance club, seniors’ café, Air Cadets program or social clubs, there is a group for everyone. Many places, including Surrey Memorial Hospital and the Bell Performing Arts Centre, also seek volunteers.

A City Full of Experiences

Surrey continues to shine with music, art, culture, laughter, learning, food, and family magic. Whether you choose a glowing light walk, a powerful concert, a holiday parade, or a cozy theatre show, this month offers something exciting for every age and every interest.
