Man Arrested for Sexual Assault of Teen Girl at Surrey Bus Stop
Metro Vancouver Transit Police (MVTP) have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at Scottsdale Exchange in Surrey on June 28, 2025.
According to police, around 9 p.m., a man in his late 30s approached the teen while she was waiting for a bus.
“He allegedly attempted to engage her in conversation and tried to kiss her, despite her telling him that she was only 16 years old,” the MVTP release stated.
The suspect then groped the girl, pulled her into his lap, and exposed himself before fleeing on foot. Two women at the bus loop witnessed the incident and confronted him.
Arrest and Charges
Following a comprehensive investigation, transit police identified and arrested the suspect—who was already known to police—on October 16. He has been released with conditions, including a ban from visiting Scottsdale Bus Exchange, pending a court appearance. A charge of sexual assault has been recommended to the BC Prosecution Service.
Appeal for Witnesses
MVTP spokesperson Const. Amanda Steed urged the two bystanders who intervened to come forward to assist investigators.
“We understand how difficult it can be to report a sexual offence and commend the victim for coming forward so the suspect can be held accountable,” Steed said.
Reporting Incidents
MVTP encourages anyone who experiences or witnesses sexual harassment, unwanted touching, or indecent acts on transit to report it.
