Vancouver Giants skate to two big wins and a thrilling shootout finish, closing a packed weekend with momentum and confidence on home ice.
Giants End Busy Weekend on a High Note
What a weekend it was for the Vancouver Giants! Three games in three nights, countless highlight moments, and a whole lot of grit. The G-Men wrapped up their jam-packed schedule with two big wins and one nail-biting shootout loss — a performance that’s got fans buzzing and the locker room brimming with confidence.
Friday Night Fire: Giants Roar Past the Wild
The weekend kicked off with fireworks south of the border, as the Giants dominated the Wenatchee Wild in a decisive 5–2 victory. From the opening puck drop, Vancouver came out flying.
Head coach Parker Burgess couldn’t have been prouder:
“I liked our start. We played on our toes, made smart decisions, and stuck to our style,” he said.
Burgess also praised his players for buying into the team’s system. “They’re learning our coaching approach and discovering where our strengths and weaknesses lie,” he added.
Saturday Standoff: Shootout Heartbreak in Penticton
Less than 24 hours later, the Giants battled the Penticton Vees in a tense 4–3 shootout loss. Despite the final result, this one had everything — speed, skill, and suspense.
After a scoreless overtime, the game stretched into a marathon shootout, with seven rounds of back-and-forth tension before the Vees finally slipped one past.
Assistant coach Gaelan Patterson summed up the mixed emotions perfectly:
“We’re disappointed not to get the two points, but we’re proud of how the guys competed. This team is taking real steps in the right direction.”
Sunday Surge: Giants Tame the Tigers
Back home at the Langley Events Centre on Sunday, the Giants faced the defending champion Medicine Hat Tigers — and didn’t flinch. Vancouver skated to a confident 3–1 win, fueled by teamwork, determination, and a roaring home crowd.
“The guys emptied the tank tonight,” Burgess said proudly after the game. “We told them to give everything for each other, and they did exactly that.”
It was that all-out effort in the second period that sealed the deal, with a key third goal giving the Giants the breathing room they needed to finish strong.
Building Momentum and Confidence
That win pushed Vancouver’s record to 5-6-0-1, while the Tigers slipped to 7-4-0-0. Even better — the Giants have now earned points in four straight games (3-0-0-1), showing real consistency and confidence as the season heats up.
They didn’t trail once all weekend, staying level or ahead in every matchup.

Looking Ahead: Another Tripleheader Weekend
The Giants’ schedule doesn’t slow down. Next up, they’ll host the Portland Winterhawks on Friday at the Langley Events Centre, travel to Kamloops for a Saturday clash with the Blazers, and then return home for a Sunday rematch.
If this past weekend was any indication, the G-Men are finding their rhythm — and they’re ready to keep the good times rolling.
