Jay Card III wins the Fortinet Cup Championship in Surrey, sealing his Korn Ferry Tour spot as Canadian Drew Nesbitt also celebrates career milestone.
A Thrilling Finish in South Surrey
The PGA Tour Americas’ Fortinet Cup Championship wrapped up in style at Morgan Creek Golf Course, and fans witnessed an unforgettable performance. U.S. golfer Jay Card III stormed back with a dazzling final round to claim his second win of the season, while Canadian standout Drew Nesbitt secured his ticket to the Korn Ferry Tour.
Card’s Comeback Story
Entering the final round two strokes behind, the 31-year-old Card fired a jaw-dropping 8-under 62, including a sizzling 29 on the front nine. That remarkable run erased the deficit and pushed him to the top of the leaderboard.
The victory didn’t just earn Card the $40,500 winner’s check from the $225,000 purse — it also cemented him as the only player this season to win on both the Latin America and North America swings. More importantly, the win guaranteed his 2026 Korn Ferry Tour status and an exemption into the final stage of Q-School.
Reflecting on the moment, Card shared, “When you’re two back on Sunday and you put up a 62, that builds so much confidence. I’ve won from behind, I’ve won with a lead — those are the moments you dream about.”
A Season of Memories
For Card, this season was about more than just trophies. He spoke fondly about the off-course bonds that shaped his journey. “It’s the karaoke nights, the Dairy Queen runs, the friendships — those are the things I’ll really carry with me,” he said with a smile.
Interestingly, Card isn’t just known for his golf. The Virginia native is also a classically trained opera singer who can play the flute, oboe, and saxophone — a rare combination of talent both on and off the fairways.
Nesbitt’s Canadian Breakthrough
While Card’s win grabbed headlines, Drew Nesbitt delivered his own historic milestone. The Ontario golfer posted three top-five finishes this season, making him the second Canadian in history to crack “The 10” — the select group earning Korn Ferry Tour status.
For Nesbitt, 2026 will mark his first Korn Ferry Tour campaign. His standout year also secured him a return to the RBC Canadian Open for the fourth time, a reward for finishing as the top Canadian in the Fortinet Cup standings.
What’s Next
With the season now complete, the spotlight shifts to December’s PGA Tour Q-School final stage at TPC Sawgrass. Card will battle for a coveted PGA Tour card, while Nesbitt looks ahead to his Korn Ferry debut.
The Fortinet Cup Championship in South Surrey wasn’t just a tournament — it was a showcase of grit, resilience, and breakthrough moments. For both Card and Nesbitt, it marks the beginning of something much bigger.
