Community Comes Together for Affordable Housing
Affordable housing and inclusion take center stage in South Surrey this weekend. UNITI’s Walk and Roll fundraiser will gather residents on Saturday at South Surrey Athletic Park, where community members can walk, roll, and rally in support of the much-anticipated Harmony Apartments project.
A Day of Action and Connection
September 27 will be busy on the Semiahmoo Peninsula. While White Rock holds its byelection, UNITI invites everyone to head to the park at 14600 20 Avenue. Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m., and the inclusive walkathon officially kicks off at 1 p.m. Organizers encourage people to lace up sneakers, bring mobility aids, or simply cheer from the sidelines.
Building Harmony Through Housing
Proceeds from Walk and Roll directly support Harmony Apartments, a landmark housing development with 91 affordable rental homes. The project will welcome seniors, students, people with disabilities, and essential workers. Of these homes, 14 will include accessible designs, and two will feature universal layouts, ensuring no one is left behind.
A Vision of Inclusion
UNITI’s vision is clear: inclusion should be the expectation, not the exception. Harmony Apartments addresses the urgent need for affordable housing while creating a community where everyone belongs. Lauren Simpson, a respected advocate and UNITI representative, played a key role in shaping this initiative. She dreams of living independently in a home that celebrates her value, just as Harmony intends.
How to Get Involved
Supporting this cause is simple. You can form or join a team, donate to UNITI, spread the word among friends, or participate in Saturday’s event. Every action, big or small, helps strengthen the foundation of inclusive housing in Surrey and White Rock.
South Surrey will step forward together this weekend—walking, rolling, and showing that community thrives when inclusion leads the way.
