Surrey foodies, get ready! One of Metro Vancouver’s most talked-about dining trends is making its way to the city. Big Way Hot Pot, the popular malatang-style chain, has been spotted opening soon at King George Hub, the bustling development in the heart of Surrey’s downtown.
Originally launched on Kingsway in 2021, Big Way has quickly expanded to more than 10 locations across Metro Vancouver, with further outposts in Toronto and California. The Surrey opening will mark the chain’s first for the city.
The concept has become a sensation: diners customize their own bowls by choosing from over 100 ingredients — from seafood and noodles to meats and vegetables — and pay by weight. The trend has also exploded on social media, with videos of customers guessing their final price before checkout often going viral.
King George Hub is already becoming a hotspot for dining, with restaurants like Kinton Ramen, Jollibee, Reux Cafe, and Combine Cafe, and new additions on the way including Breka, Pokerito, and Body Energy Club. While no official opening date has been announced, locals won’t have to wait long to enjoy their own Big Way experience without heading into Burnaby or Vancouver.
