Gunshots shattered the calm in South Surrey as police investigate a mansion shooting linked to a string of extortion-related attacks.

A Shocking Wake-Up Call in South Surrey

Saturday morning’s peace was shattered in rural South Surrey when gunfire erupted outside a sprawling mansion along 32 Avenue. The Surrey Police Service rushed to the scene around 8:40 a.m. after multiple reports of shots fired. Officers from the Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) quickly confirmed bullet damage to the property’s exterior.

Police Flood the Scene

Within minutes, the quiet neighbourhood was filled with flashing lights and investigators combing the grounds for clues. Sgt. Tige Pollock of the Surrey Police Service confirmed that the case remains in its early stages, with forensic teams gathering evidence and reaching out to partner agencies. Their goal? To determine whether this shooting connects to other recent violent incidents in the region.

Call for Witnesses

Authorities are urging residents to come forward. Anyone who spotted suspicious activity, or has CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact Surrey Police’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, quoting file number 25-61960 (SU). Even a small detail could be the missing piece investigators need.

Community Leaders React

Surrey South MLA Brent Chapman expressed deep concern following the incident. “Our community’s safety is always a top priority. I’m thankful no one was injured,” he said in a social media post. Chapman also encouraged locals to share any information that could help police track down those responsible.

A Growing Pattern of Violence

Unfortunately, this latest attack isn’t an isolated event. Over the past few weeks, the region has seen a troubling rise in gun violence much of it linked to suspected extortion. On October 30, two men were arrested after shots were fired at a home in the Panorama neighbourhood. Just days before that, White Rock Gymnastics on Croydon Drive was also targeted overnight.

Earlier in the month, both South Surrey and Newton locations of Ustaad G76, a popular restaurant chain, were riddled with bullets during early morning attacks. Surrey Police reported that as of late October, there had already been 74 reported extortion cases and 39 shootings believed to be connected.

Police Stay Vigilant

While investigators continue to piece together the puzzle, officers remain on high alert. Their ongoing efforts are focused on stopping the chain of violence before anyone gets hurt. For now, police presence remains heavy in the area and residents are left hoping for peace to return to their quiet corner of South Surrey.
