A new red and white commemorative crosswalk has been unveiled outside the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 6 in Cloverdale, just in time for Remembrance Day.
Painted late at night on Nov. 2, the design features a silhouette of a kneeling soldier beside a maple leaf, with the words “Lest We Forget” written across it — a powerful symbol of remembrance and respect.
A Touching Tribute
Legion member Susie Chamberlain, who also leads the annual Poppy Campaign, said the new crosswalk fills her with pride.
“We’re so excited about it. Just over the moon,” she said.
Fellow member Christine Anderson agreed, calling it “fantastic” and noting that it has already become a topic of conversation in the community.
Chamberlain added that the crosswalk is a fitting tribute and perfectly timed ahead of Remembrance Day.
“What a way to honour our veterans,” she said.
