A Fraser Heights family is once again turning grief into giving as Uncle Vinny’s Toy Drive returns for its fifth year, running from Nov. 12 to Dec. 10. The initiative, created in 2021 to honour Vinny Maan, who passed away in 2019, collects toys for families in need during the holiday season.
Continuing Vinny’s legacy of joy
“Vinny was full of life—joyful, generous, and kind,” said organizer Pinder Saran, Vinny’s sister. “He especially cherished the holiday season and loved bringing smiles to children’s faces.”
Since its launch, the toy drive has collected over $120,000 worth of toys for the Salvation Army’s Boundless Vancouver pop-up toy shop, where parents can choose gifts for their children.
Community impact and participation
This year, new unwrapped toys can be dropped off at various Lower Mainland locations—to be announced on Uncle Vinny’s Toy Drive’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
Businesses can participate by:
- Hosting a collection bin for toys
 - Promoting the drive on social media
 - Incentivizing donations or matching employee contributions
 - Integrating the campaign into holiday events

A growing charitable legacy
Now a registered charity, Uncle Vinny’s Toy Drive can issue official donation receipts and expand its community partnerships. “What began as a family initiative has grown into a recognized charitable organization dedicated to spreading joy and hope,” Saran said.
