Local clean-tech firm to showcase bendable, low-carbon concrete
Delta-based MATT Concrete, a clean-tech manufacturer known for its innovative, lightweight concrete panels, is stepping into the national spotlight on CBC’s Dragon’s Den this Thursday, October 30 at 8 p.m. (CBC and CBC Gem).
Co-founder and CEO Randy Orr, joined by his brother Kevin, will pitch the company’s newest innovation — the MATT Flex panel, a patented ultra-thin, bendable decorative concrete that’s just 0.8mm thick and weighs only 0.3 pounds per square foot. The duo will demonstrate the product’s flexibility and ease of installation, with some help from the Dragons themselves.
“It’s nerve-wracking yet exciting to see the Dragons’ passion for innovation and to gain insights for MATT’s products from these Canadian business legends,” said Randy Orr.
Redefining sustainable design
Founded by Randy and Colleen Orr, MATT Concrete’s mission is to reimagine what concrete can be — merging sustainability, craftsmanship, and design innovation. Their products offer the natural aesthetic of concrete without the weight, waste, or environmental footprint of traditional materials.
All MATT products are made in British Columbia and are used by architects, designers, and builders across North America.
Award-winning recognition
The company’s designs recently featured in Matthew McCormack’s award-winning booth at the 2025 International Design Show in Vancouver, and the MATT Flex panel was named a finalist for the 2026 Western Living Design 25 Awards.
With growing recognition and national exposure through Dragon’s Den, MATT Concrete continues to cement its place as one of B.C.’s most exciting innovators in sustainable construction materials.
