Candy, Costumes, and Community Spirit at Spooktacular Newton
The streets of Newton were buzzing with excitement on Saturday, October 25, as families and children dressed as goblins, fairies, and superheroes took part in the annual Spooktacular Newton celebration.
The free community event, held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed down 137 Street between 72A and 74 Avenue to make way for a day filled with festive fun, laughter, and Halloween spirit.
A Day Full of Treats and Entertainment
Local businesses and organizations lined the streets with colourful 10×10 tents, handing out candy to eager trick-or-treaters while showcasing their work and products.
The event also featured a pumpkin patch, where visitors could take home a pumpkin for a donation to the Surrey Food Bank — blending fun with community support.
Adding to the Halloween atmosphere, City Entertainment presented two lively Halloween-themed dance performances, thrilling audiences throughout the afternoon.

Families enjoyed a variety of attractions and activities, including:
- Bouncy castles and mini golf
- A petting zoo and train rides
- Face painting stations
- A wide selection of food trucks offering seasonal treats
From creative costumes to community giving, Spooktacular Newton once again proved to be one of Surrey’s most anticipated fall festivals — celebrating the joy of Halloween while strengthening neighbourhood connections.
