Vancouver Giants rally from 3-1 down to beat Kamloops Blazers 5-3, sealing their second straight comeback win and extending their hot streak.
Giants Deliver Another Stunning Comeback Over Blazers
The Vancouver Giants are proving they’ve got plenty of fight in them. For the second straight game, they stormed back to defeat the Kamloops Blazers — this time in front of their home fans at the Langley Events Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 3-1 midway through the second period, the Giants dug deep to score four unanswered goals and seal a thrilling 5-3 victory. The weekend sweep marks back-to-back comeback wins against the Blazers, following Saturday night’s nail-biting 5-4 triumph in Kamloops.
Grit, Heart, and a Whole Lot of Character
“It was a good weekend for sure,” said Giants General Manager Hnat Domenichelli, clearly proud of his team’s resilience. “What stood out tonight was the pushback. It was our third game in three nights, and the group stuck together. A lot of character.”
Both teams were visibly feeling the fatigue, but Vancouver refused to back down. With this win, the Giants now sit at 7-7-0-1, while the Blazers fall to 6-6-1-1. Even more impressive, the Giants have gone 5-1-0-1 in their last seven outings.
Sparks Ignites the Offense
Draft-eligible forward Tyus Sparks lit up the scoreboard with two key goals, while Jakob Oreskovic, Blake Chorney, and Cameron Schmidt each added singles. Schmidt, who’s been red-hot lately, extended his point streak to seven games (8 goals, 6 assists).
Goaltender Burke Hood held steady between the pipes, stopping 22 shots to notch his sixth win of the season.
A Rollercoaster Start for Kamloops
The Blazers came out firing. Josh Evaschesen opened the scoring with his sixth of the season, assisted by Tommy Lafreniere. Moments later, the Blazers regained the lead on Isa Guram’s power-play goal, followed by an unlucky deflection off two Giants that gave Kayd Ruedig credit for Kamloops’ third tally.
But Vancouver refused to quit. Oreskovic’s shorthanded goal got them rolling, and Chorney’s late second-period strike made it a one-goal game. Then, just 19 seconds into the third, Sparks redirected a point shot to tie things up 3-3.
The Comeback is Complete
Momentum fully shifted when Schmidt buried a slick cross-crease pass from Obobaifo, giving the Giants their first lead of the night. Sparks later sealed the deal with an empty-netter from his own zone, sending the Langley crowd into celebration mode.

Looking Ahead
With confidence soaring and chemistry clicking, the Giants now turn their focus to next weekend’s home clashes against Kelowna and Prince George. If this weekend proved anything, it’s that Vancouver’s grit and belief are becoming their defining traits — and fans are loving every minute of it.
